What genre do you write?
I mainly write about family life. I nave two WIP - Detecting 101
- a mystery; and For Whatever It's Worth - a romance novel.
Do your reading choices reflect your
writing choices?
Forty years ago, I started reading Harlequin Romances - I was a
young mother of two and needed an escape. Jackie Collins, Robert J Parker, Dick
Francis, Jeffrey Archer, John Grisham. I enjoy light reading.
I joined Canadian Authors Association in
Toronto in 1992 and attended their yearly conferences in different cities every
year. Met many writers - some famous and some didn't become famous - until they
did. I have boxes of photos of these writers and many signed copies of their
works.
Which type of characters are your
favorite?
My marriage ended after 13 years - so the guy has to be decent; if he's a jerk - I don't read further.
TALES & LIES MY BABA TOLD ME
What happens when a smart, young stay-at-home mom decides to
go back to work and hires her Ukrainian mom to nanny her two kids for 6 years?
A witty, brutally honest and true story of freedom,
resilience and pivotal moments in life that change the story forever.
Get a peek into the life, relationship and influence that grows
between grandmother and grandkids when mom decides to grab her briefcase and go
back to the working world. Pull up a chair to the kitchen table and witness all
the imperfections, idiosyncrasies and bloopers that drive mother and daughter
to argue and disagree are the same conditions that bring them together and
guide generations.
Years later, both children now teenagers, Jennie Tschoban aka
Baba looks back and pens her memoir of the crazy challenges and tender moments
she experienced while raising her grandkids.
This captivating story skips between Europe during WW2 and Canada today where the trauma of running to save your life shapes three generations over 2 continents with determination and humour.
