Welcome back to another Round Robin Blog Fest! These are always so much fun and interesting to learn more about our authors and their work. This month’s topic is fully loaded! We had a lot to choose from:
Have you
ever included current social, political, or environmental problems in any
of your stories or thought about doing so? Why or why not?
Such as:
- Do you
ever include politics in your stories (why and how?)
- Do you
ever address topics like discrimination or race relations?
- After
your characters with or against law enforcement and do you include the
current climate of anti-law enforcement in your writing
- have you
incorporated gay/lesbian characters?
- how does
the current economic climate feature in your books?
- Have you
ever included current wars in your books?
- Has terrorism
ever appeared in any of your stories?
- Do any of your characters address going green/global warming?
So interesting that’s the topic that came up this month!
I’ve been tossing ideas around for my newest Glitter Bay Mystery for 2023 and
adding a subplot for Quinn who is a transgender character. (She’s also one of
my favorites, but don’t tell the others!) As well as being Pride Month, we have
a fabulous local celebration called Celebrate Your Awesome – which is totally
about being who you are!
Quinn lives that motto now and now that she’s moved to a
small town and roommates with her new bestie Sage, she’s decided to challenge
some of those small town beliefs. She’s started designing gowns and outfits for
drag queens and is on a mission to start her own Celebrate Your Awesome, which
still needs a good name. Lucky for me, I have a lot of amazing minds to pick
while I work out the plot line. I’m friends with several people involved!
In my Sugarwood Mysteries, the topic of land use and environment always seem to come up. Audra's husband Rex works for a development company that is focused on buying up most of Sugarwood and area to build new homes. Not totally a bad thing, except when bodies start to pop up. Currently, I'm working on Book 2 and brought in a few new characters and reveal a few new secrets. Complete with new book covers for both books. I can't wait.
