Today's feature is another fabulous Canadian Author! Welcome to first time guest, Kathleen Gauer who writes wonderful children's books!
My strengths as an author are my enthusiasm for reading and
writing, my experience as a published author, my love of picture books, a vivid
imagination and a love for children.
How often do you write, and do you
write using a strict routine?
I always have a pen and paper handy for when story ideas
pop into my head. I write any time of the day or night.
Five years from now, where do you see
yourself as a writer?
Five years from now, I see myself continuing to write
stories, visit schools, lead Storytime and Craft events in libraries, and share
my books at author venues.
If you could offer once piece of
advice to a novice writer, what would it be?
My advice to novice writers is to read lots of books in the
genre you wish to write. And, it’s never too late to fulfil your dream. I
didn’t publish my first book until my sixties!
What would you consider to be the best
compliment a reader could give your book?
One of the best compliments a reader can give is that their
little ones choose to read my book over and over again.
What are you working on now?
I am working on another picture book that I hope to publish with a traditional publisher. The idea for this book came to me while participating in “Storystorm” challenge, a free month-long story brainstorming event for picture book writers that begins each year in January.
